Company History
Swift & Staley Mechanical Contractors, Inc. (Swift & Staley) is a woman-owned small business. The Kentucky Corporation established in 1979, focused its early efforts on mechanical contracting, later expanding into electrical and general contracting. Swift & Staley has and continues to be instrumental in the construction and ongoing infrastructure support of businesses and industry in and around Paducah, Kentucky.
In 2000, Swift & Staley began performing construction and infrastructure support activities at the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
In 2005, Swift & Staley was awarded the DOE Prime Contract for the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant.
In 2007, Swift & Staley was certified as a HUBZone small business by the U.S. Small Business Administration. This status provides the area with increased economic growth potential through Swift & Staley's presence.
In 2009, Swift & Staley was awarded the small business contract to continue infrastructure support services at the Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant site. The contract has a value of 67.3 million over a five-year period beginning March 16, 2010.
Also in 2009, Swift & Staley expanded its governmental services portfolio by acquiring USDA Forest Service maintenance & operations contracts for general maintenance, repair, landscaping, and environmental services for Land Between the Lakes, a designated National Recreation Area.
Swift & Staley is committed to maintaining its presence in the government sector and is working to expand its base services.
Company History
In 2011, Swift & Staley led the U.S. Department of Energy in Paducah to its third Federal Electronic Challenge Award in four years. The DOE received the 2011 FEC Bronze Level Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Office of the Federal Environmental Executive at EPA headquarters in Washington, D.C. The award honors the 2010 site efforts in reducing the environmental impact of electronics in one life-cycle phase acquisition and procurement.
- In 2010 Swift & Staley was recognized by the U.S. Forest Service for Exemplary Contract Performance in Extraordinary Circumstances for their response to flood recovery efforts at Land Between the Lakes, which allowed the area to fully re-open to the public in time for Memorial Day.

Swift & Staley proactively supports United Way through fundraisers, corporate contributions, and payroll deductions available to employees.

Swift & Staley has a Charitable Giving Program to support and sustain non-profit organizations in our community which serve areas of education, economics, health and humanities, as well as those programs which provide for the needs of low-income individuals and groups.
Each year Swift & Staley raises thousands of dollars for Family Focus to provide the needs of local area families during the Christmas Season. Swift & Staley employees participate in this cause by donating money through payroll deductions, bake sales and participating in other fundraising activities.

Jeffrey Kupfer, Deputy Secretary of Energy, and Theresa Alvillar-Speak, Director, Office of Small & Disadvantaged Business Utilization present Patricia Holsapple, CEO of Swift & Staley Mechanical Contractors, Inc., with the 2007 U.S. Department of Energy HUBZone Small Business of the Year Award. The presentation was made at the U.S. Department of Energy 9th Annual Small Business Conference held June 24-26, 2008, in San Antonio, Texas.
